Do It Again – Buhari Charges Golden Eaglets In Phone Chat

image

As the Golden Eaglets prepare to take on their Malian counterparts at the final of the FIFA U-17 world cup, President Buhari has thrown in a few words of encouragement to the team in a phone conversation.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday afternoon had telephone conversations with members of Nigeria’s U-17 team ahead of their World Cup final today, November 8.
Buhari spoke with each member of the team, charging them to repeat the feat of 30 years when Nigeria became the first African country to win a FIFA tournament.
Buhari, who was military head of state at the time, charged the team to “do it again” because it will encourage Nigerians, particularly the youths.

Sani Abacha, the former head of state, started the tradition of telephone chat with the national team in 1994 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final in Tunisia, which Nigeria won. But Buhari’s conversation was not televised, unlike in the past.
The Golden Eaglets, coached by Emmanuel Amuneke, will play against Mali in the final in Chile, hoping to make it a record 5th win after victories in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2013.

Apparently, Yeezy’s perfectionist tendencies apply to his apartment, his music, his wife’s wardrobe and his hair.

image

Former Manchester United footballer, Alan Smith’s marriage to dancer, Kristina MacMillan, 29 has ended after just four months. The pair who have known each other for eight years and dated for four got married in a lavish wedding but that didn’t stand in the way of 34-year-old Smith leaving his wife for a married car dealer 9 years older than he is and 14 years older than Kristina.
Smith met Sarah Cox, 43 at the gym and the two hit it off. Sarah’s husband, Mark is said to be distraught but he has children and a business to run so he isn’t sitting around feeling sorry for himself.
It’s understood Alan first met Sarah around a year ago. Friends of Sarah’s family reveal her husband has spoken to Alan’s wife to discuss their shock.

Kristina’s friends have insisted there is no chance of salvaging their relationship, adding: “Kristina has made it clear she won’t tolerate what has happened. She kicked him out and that was final for her.
They’re now only speaking via lawyers. It’s a very sad end considering they’ve known each other eight years and dated for four, but she’s too hurt by it all.”
Alan, nicknamed Smudge, played 19 times for England and scored seven goals in 61 appearances for Man United.
He also starred at Leeds and Newcastle and is now at Notts County, who play just nine miles from his new love’s car lot.

Kesha Is Begging The Courts To Let Her Record Again Or Her Career Is ‘Effectively Over’

'Kesha now faces an abysmal decision,' her lawyers wrote. 'Work with her alleged abuser...or idly and passively wait as her career tick-tocks away.'
The legal battle between Kesha and producer Dr. Luke has been raging on for over a year now, since Kesha first filed a suit against her former songwriting partner (and Dr. Luke countersued shortly after).
But this past weekend, Kesha filed new court papers asking a judge to get back to work recording with other collaborators besides Dr. Luke. The “Timber” singer is still bound by her contract with Sony Music — which is in dispute in court — and the company won’t allow her to work with other producers while it’s pending.

According to the new papers, Kesha said her career is “effectively over” unless she can make new music now — and make it without Dr. Luke. And indeed, we haven’t heard much from the 28-year-old singer since “Timber,” which was really Pitbull’s song that she was featured on. Her last studio album, Warrior, came out in 2012.

Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, has been embroiled in a court battle with Kesha since October 2014 when the singer filed a suit claiming he had sexually assaulted, raped and battered her during their 10-year partnership. In addition, the suit contains some really nasty allegations, like Dr. Luke referring to Kesha as a “fat f–king refrigerator” and continually harassing her about her weight. Dr. Luke countersued for breach of contract and defamation just days later.
Back in February, a New York judge ruled that Kesha’s sexual assault case against Dr. Luke should move forward before Dr. Luke’s claims of defamation should be considered. But this was later undone by a judge halting her case in June.

Kesha’s lawyers wrote in the most recent filings, “Kesha now faces an abysmal decision: Work with her alleged abuser…or idly and passively wait as her career tick-tocks away. Kesha’s window of opportunity is nearly shut: She has not been recording, touring or able to market merchandise for nearly a year — an eternity in the industry. If Kesha is not permitted to resume working immediately with the backing of a major record label, her window will forever close.”

More Than 40 Girls At One High School Were Taken Out Of Class For Wearing Leggings

Thursday (October 29), more than 40 girls at a high school in Mount Juliet, TN were given citations for violating the same dress code rule: wearing leggings. The rulebook for Wilson County Schools says that students are allowed to wear leggings as long as they’re also wearing a shirt, skirt, or dress that falls three inches above the middle of the knee.

Amelia Hipps, a spokesperson for the schools said, “The bottom line is, the tops weren’t long enough. It didn’t have anything to do with the leggings, it was what was [worn] over the leggings not meeting student dress code.”
The students who violated the dress code were taken out of class, with a parent or guardian called. Though there’s still no explanation for why so many students happened to be written up for violating the same rule, we can probably guess it’s because leggings are extremely comfortable and are, generally speaking, no cause for concern.

APC Declares PDP Present Woes Are Payback Of The Past Impunity

apc-pdp

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Saturday’s judgement of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is the clearest indication that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has started harvesting what it sowed in its years of impunity and recklessness.
Consequently, the party said the PDP should blame itself for whatever tragedy which has now befallen it.
The party in a statement issued in Lagos Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the PDP has always been a party of anything goes, hence it was a matter of time for the party to come to grief, first by tumbling from the pinnacle of power and now by losing, incrementally, whatever remains of its crumbled empire.
It said the PDP was only trifling by attributing the judgement to a supposed manipulation from the Presidency.
”President Muhammadu Buhari as well as his party, the APC, are strong believers in the rule of law, as against the rule of impunity, hence will never manipulate the judiciary for whatever reason.
”The PDP is clearly aware of this, but has chosen to blame everyone but itself for the fate that has befallen it. The PDP should have known that it will pay for its years of impunity and recklessness. For this party, the chicken has now come home to roost,” APC said.
The ruling party said if the PDP was not blaming the judiciary, its favourite whipping boy, it is blaming the APC, the Presidency or even Nigerians for its plight, warning it to stop shifting responsibility.
”PDP should leave the judiciary, the Presidency and the APC alone and accept responsibility for its actions. From the judgement of the Tribunal, it is clear that the impunity of the PDP cost it the election. Not only did the party breach Section 78 (b) (1) (2) of the Electoral Act concerning the organization of party primaries, it was not even deemed to have participated in the April 11th 2015 governorship election in Taraba State in the eyes of the law.
”Apart from not complying with the Electoral Act, the election of the PDP candidate, Mr. Darius Ishaku, in the purported primaries in Abuja was done after the stipulated time for party primaries had elapsed, according to the Tribunal. It is thus clear that the election result in Taraba was not annulled for any other reason but the impunity and recklessness that permeated the life and times of the cadaverous PDP.
”It is noteworthy that this is not the first time the court is ruling against PDP’s impunity of violating its own constitutional provisions and the Electoral Act with regards to ensuring internal democracy in the conduct of primary elections.
”The first landmark judgment came from the Supreme Court when it ruled against PDP’s impunity in 2007 and ordered that Rotimi Amaechi be installed as Governor of Rivers instead of Celestine Omehia who was illegally imposed.
Secondly, the Supreme Court had also ruled against PDP in the case of Ifeanyi Ararume when the party took his mandate as validly elected Governorship candidate and handed it over to another aspirant.
”It is instructive to note that these judgments took place while the PDP was in control of the Presidency. The opposition parties then never questioned the integrity of the judiciary by making wild and weighty allegations as the PDP is doing now,” it said.
The APC also said that the PDP should blame itself for its gross impunity with regards to the conduct of primary elections for Taraba State. It held that, if all political parties, including the APC which was then in opposition, could hold their primaries in the state, why would the PDP that was in control of the State Government come down to Abuja for
its primaries against the provisions of the Electoral Act and the PDP constitution?
”The impunity was not only in the case of Taraba State because the PDP also moved its Governorship primaries for Borno and Adamawa States to Abuja in breach of the Electoral Act.
The irony was that whereas the PDP claimed the primaries where shifted to Abuja because the capitals of Taraba, Borno and Adamawa States where not safe for primary elections, the PDP held Presidential campaigns in the same capitals of the affected states (Jalingo, Taraba State, Maiduguri, Borno State and Yola, Adamawa State).
